Appreciating What You Have

Say thank you for the good stuff to make yourself feel better

Be thankful to create a positive frame of mind

Saying thank you – out loud or to yourself – creates a more positive frame of mind and that means a better performance. It doesn’t matter how big or small the thing is. Just acknowledging the good stuff makes you feel better about yourself. It’s really easy to do when someone does something nice for you but it’s also good to get into the habit of noticing what you may already have and take for granted.

How to put it into action

You could try every morning, before you get out of bed, to quickly list the things you’re grateful for. It might be seeing your friends last night or a plan you have next weekend. It could be something small like the breakfast you’re about to have or the big stuff – your health or having a roof over your head. You can write it down, think it in your head of say it out loud. It doesn’t matter. Just notice, say thank you and feel better for it.
